Tiled showers are very popular and there are a lot of color and style options to choose from. Choosing a tile to update your shower is also the more expensive option. 

A tiled shower update will cost between $15,000 and $18,000 for a quality install and will take about two weeks to complete. This includes removing the existing tile and backer, waterproofing the shower with a modern system such as Schluter Systems, and tiling the new shower. It also would include new shower fixtures. 

Fiberglass Showers

Fiberglass showers have also been popular for some time. They are less expensive than a tiled shower but come in limited colors and styles. 

There are few varieties of fiberglass showers from the very cheap and poorly made options available at the big box stores to higher quality options sold by companies like Best Bath.
